STAFF COUNCIL

Staff Council

The College of Education Staff Council recognizes the COE staff as an integral and important part of the College. The council serves as a representative body of the staff with the primary purpose of contributing to the College’s mission and vision and integrating staff voices in matters of the College that affect or are of importance to staff.

The Staff Council will not replace existing College lines of reporting. It is not intended to be a forum for personal grievances or complaints but rather a proactive organization dedicated to fostering communication and cohesiveness within the College.

MEMBERSHIP

Staff Council membership represents all exempt and non-exempt full-time and part-time staff in the College of Education. The Staff Council is made up of 12 elected staff members, including a chair, chair-elect and secretary, with the chair-elect serving as chair the following year.

The council is to be comprised of one representative from each of the five departments: Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Policy and Technology Studies, Educational Studies in Psychology, Research Methodology, and Counseling, Kinesiology, and Special Education; and seven representatives from all offices not affiliated with a department: the Dean’s Office, Office of International Programs and Technology Support Services; the Office of Financial Affairs, Office of Clinical Experiences, Office of Student Services & Certification, UA/UWA Regional In-Service Center/AMSTI, Office of Research & Service, and Alabama Adapted Athletics. To ensure full College representation, a 13th member may also be appointed by the Dean.
