BIOGRAPHY
Skylar Petersen (she/her) is the Graduate Advisor to doctoral students in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Technology Studies. She serves as a significant point of contact between graduate students and program faculty, staff, and university offices. After earning her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance, she worked as a college admission counselor and served as the Student Success Advisor and Graduate Advising Specialist at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Skylar moved to Tuscaloosa in 2024 with her wife, who graduated from UA with a Master of Music in May 2026, and their pets (three cats and a ball python). At UA, Skylar has enjoyed serving as a member of the Professional Staff Assembly and secretary to the College of Education Staff Council. Though her advising philosophy continues to evolve, Skylar remains committed to meeting the unique needs that graduate students have as scholars, professionals, and individuals.
