TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Rausch’s teaching foundation involves modeling counseling constructs and a teamwork approach. The core constructs are based on humanism: empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence. The classroom mirrors the counseling experience, allowing students to take a hands-on approach to learning. Students should both see and feel these in the classroom and Rausch’s communication. She uses scaffolding, experiential learning, and incorporation of game elements into her teaching.
