BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Kevin M. Crombie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at The University of Alabama. He received his doctorate in Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2019. Dr. Crombie completed postdoctoral training as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and as a National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. His primary research interests include: 1) delineating the role of physical activity and exercise as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for individuals with clinical anxiety and trauma-related disorders, particularly posttraumatic stress disorder; 2) examining acute effects of aerobic exercise on learning, memory, and decision-making in individuals with and without psychiatric disorders; 3) examining psychobiological responses to aerobic exercise and laboratory-based stressors; and 4) elucidating neurobiological mechanisms responsible for psychological improvements and cognitive-enhancing effects of physical activity and exercise. His work integrates cognitive, behavioral, physiological, and neuroimaging approaches. Dr. Crombie has received funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Virginia Horne Henry Fund.
