BIOGRAPHY
Julie Covin is the Alabama Science in Motion (ASIM) Physics Specialists for the UA/UWA Regional Inservice Center. She earned her EdS in Physics Education in 2017 with a focus on the effects of job embedded professional development on the fidelity of implementation of the storyline physics concepts.
Julie has been the ASIM Physics Specialist since the creation of the position in 2006. Before joining ASIM, Julie taught physics, chemistry, biology and physical science at Hillcrest High School. Julie began her teaching career at Pickens County High School where she taught eighth grade, physical science, chemistry and physics.
In 1994, UA implemented the ASIM Chemistry and Biology programs. Julie was a participant in ASIM Chemistry that first summer training in 1994. Since that time, ASIM has expanded to all 11 state in-service regions with all three disciplines at each site. Julie is still actively supporting regional physics and physical science teachers with professional development, coaching, and laboratory equipment.
