TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Moon’s teaching centers on authentic design problems through which learners connect theory, evidence, and practice. He uses iterative prototyping, educational simulations, collaborative inquiry, and data-informed reflection to help students design learning experiences and evaluate how well those experiences work. Across courses in instructional technology, artificial intelligence, multimedia, research synthesis, and software development, he emphasizes ethical and transparent uses of AI, accessibility, and the responsible interpretation of learner data. Students are expected to create, test, revise, and explain their design decisions so that technical innovation remains grounded in learning theory and human needs.

BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Jewoong Moon is an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Technology Studies at The University of Alabama. His research examines how AI-enhanced and immersive learning environments can support teacher learning, inclusive STEM education, adaptive instruction, and evidence-based educational decision making. He integrates learning analytics, educational data mining, digital game-based learning, and extended reality to design and study simulations and adaptive learning systems. His work has appeared in Educational Psychology Review, British Journal of Educational Technology, Educational Technology Research and Development, Simulation & Gaming, Virtual Reality, Interactive Learning Environments, and the Journal of Learning Analytics. He directs the Adaptive Design of Immersive E-Learning (AdDIE) Lab and leads or collaborates on projects supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the National Research Foundation of Korea, the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, and The University of Alabama. His teaching emphasizes authentic design problems, iterative prototyping, ethical uses of AI, accessibility, and the responsible interpretation of learner data.
