Gregg Crawford

BIOGRAPHY

Gregg Crawford is a College Research Coordinator in the Office of Research and Service, where he helps faculty and staff develop comprehensive research grant proposals. Gregg served four years in the United States Marine Corps before using the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Professional Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is currently enrolled in the College of Education’s Executive EdD program with a focus on higher education administration.

Gregg is passionate about promoting education and providing support to students in need. An Eagle Scout from northern Michigan, Gregg sought out student organizations to connect with others and familiarize himself with campus. He started as a work-study in the registrar’s office and later became the chapter president of the Student Veterans of America on campus, which allowed him to connect the University’s resources through collaborative events to student veterans and military families largely experiencing academia for the first time. From 2016 to 2024, Gregg worked for the State of Tennessee, helping spread the successes in Knoxville to other colleges and universities throughout the state. Many of Tennessee’s higher education institutions now have a dedicated veteran resource center with full-time staff who ensure student veterans are supported in their academic endeavors.

Gregg enjoys the outdoors, American history, and theater. He has seen Adam Driver on Broadway through the non-profit Arts in the Armed Forces, South Pacific in Knoxville, A Street Car Named Desire in Nashville, To Kill A Mockingbird in Monroeville, Cabaret here at The University of Alabama, and now has season tickets for Broadway in Birmingham. Gregg looks forward to continuing his service through community engagement and education research here at The University of Alabama.
