BIOGRAPHY
Myra Jean Jackson serves as the K-4 Science Specialist as well as the state’s online Science Facilitator for AMSTI. She has been working with AMSTI since 2006. Myra started AMSTI as a K-8 Science Specialist and a 5-8 Math Specialist, with the majority of those 20 years spent as a 6-8 Science Specialist with one year as a K-5 Math Specialist.
Before joining AMSTI and The University of Alabama, Myra taught one year in Memphis, Tennessee, as a third-grade teacher and 10 years in Selma, Alabama. Those 10 years included three years at Selma High School as a 9-12 math teacher and seven years at the School of Discovery as a sixth-grade math and science Teacher. She is a member of the Alabama Science Teacher Association and the National Science Teacher Association.
Myra received a bachelor of arts in mathematics and political Science as well as in early childhood/elementary education from The University of Alabama. She also received her master’s degrees in school counseling and early childhood/elementary education from the University of West Alabama (Livingston University). Myra received her Education Specialist Degree in curriculum and instruction from Capella University.
