DIGITAL SIGNAGE

Digital Signage

Who can share/advertise on the digital signs?

Any College of Education group can request to have their information displayed. Requests from outside the College of Education are considered on a case-by-case basis.

How do I make a request?

Email Kelcey Sexton (kelcey.sexton@ua.edu) or Rebecca Ballard (rebecca.ballard@ua.edu) to request a posting.

What can I put on a digital sign?

Share announcements of awards, major events, deadlines, and other happy news. Guide viewers to your website for more information on programs, goals, and operations. Highlight resources, policies, and procedures unique to your area. Just remember… digital displays are TVs and therefore images should be horizontal and not vertical.

What are the requirements?

If you design your signage graphic, please ensure that the finished product meets these specifications:

  • Image must be in landscape format, 16:9 aspect ratio, which includes standard resolutions like 1280×720 (720p), 1920×1080 (1080p), and 3840×2160 (4K); any graphics submitted in portrait layout WILL NOT be posted. See example below:
  • Approved file formats include .jpg, .psd, .png, .gif, or .tiff; PDFs and Word docs WILL NOT be accepted.
  • File must be no larger than 5Mb.
  • Use 200 or fewer characters of text (including spaces); we reserve the right to edit or send your image back for revisions.
Campus-wide distribution?

If you would like your signs to be displayed across campus, please make your request with the Office of Information Technology.

What if a sign isn’t working?

To report a technical problem with a digital sign (i.e., the screen is blank or flickering) in your building, contact the OIT Audio Visual Solutions helpline at 205-348-3453.
