Dr. Witt’s specialty is string and orchestral education. She taught middle school and high school strings in Austin, Texas, and in 2005 she started a similar program for the Tuscaloosa City Schools, called Strings in Schools. She played cello in the Austin Symphony and served as National President of the American String Teachers Association.
Witt’s inspiration to be a music teacher came from her father, Edward H. Cleino, a member of the UA College of Education Hall of Fame. She earned her undergraduate degree from UA. She continues to help other teachers through professional presentations at conferences.
She is a serious summer gardener and enjoys volunteering at Home in Place, helping elderly people remain in their homes. She has two children and three grandchildren and loves her new job at UA!
