BIOGRAPHY
Kathy Colburn has been with the University of Alabama AMSTI site since 2014 serving as a K-4 Science Specialist and K-8 Digital Literacy & Computer Science Specialist. Prior to AMSTI, she taught 24 years in the Tuscaloosa County School System and was a math and science trainer for AMSTI before leaving the classroom. Kathy is a facilitator for various learning opportunities AMSTI offers, including Science Foundational, K-4 Science units and K-8 Robotics Resource kit training. She has been involved in writing professional development at the local and state level and has presented at state and national conferences. Kathy is an adjunct faculty member for the University of Alabama College of Education. In addition, she facilitates science professional learning for UA pre-service teachers. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, National Science Teaching Association and Alabama Science Teachers Association. Kathy received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in early childhood education from the University of Alabama and achieved National Board Certification in 2002. She and her husband enjoy traveling and spending time with family, especially their 4 precious grandchildren.
