BIOGRAPHY
Erica Lee is an assistant research professor of special education at the University of Alabama. Prior to this position, Erica served as an early childhood and elementary special education teacher in Birmingham, Alabama for ten years. Dr. Lee holds 6 teaching certifications in the state of Alabama, ranging from birth through age 21 in general and special education settings. Her areas of interest include social emotional learning, autism, developmental delays, behavioral interventions, and collaboration within the inclusive setting.
Dr. Lee has extensive experience serving children with disabilities and their families in primary grades (K-3). She is passionate about empowering teachers to provide effective instruction for all students, regardless of their developmental, academic, or behavioral needs. As a special education teacher and department head, Dr. Lee spent a decade cultivating relationships with families to help navigate them through the process of advocating for their children. These relationships continue to fuel Dr. Lee’s work today.
