BIOGRAPHY
Myra Jean Jackson serves as the online Science Facilitator for the state. Myra has been working with AMSTI since 2006. Of those 18 years. Myra started AMSTI as a K-8 Science Specialist and a 5-8 Math Specialist, but most of the years has been spent as 6-8 Science Specialist and one year as K-5 Math Specialist.
Prior to joining AMSTI and the University of Alabama, Myra taught 1 year in Memphis, Tennessee as a third-grade teacher and 10 years in Selma, Alabama. Those 10 years included 3 years at Selma High School as 9-12 Math teacher and 7 years at the School of Discovery as a 6th grade Math and Science Teacher. She is a member of the Alabama Science Teacher Association and a member of the National Science Teacher Association.
Myra received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Political Science, a master’s degree in early childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Alabama. She also received a master’s degree in School Counseling for the University of West Alabama (Livingston University) and her Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Capella University.
