RESEARCH INTERESTS
While her primary research focus has been on childrenās fears, Dr. Burnham’s research agenda also includes school counseling-related topics, and the tenure and promotion process.Ā
PUBLICATIONS
Dr. Burnham has published 54 peer-reviewed journal articles including publications in The Journal of Counseling and Development, International Journal for the Advancement of Counseling, Journal of Loss and Trauma, International Perspectives on Stress and Coping, Behaviour Research and Therapy, Journal of Child and Family Studies, The Journal of Family Therapy, The Professional School Counselor, Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, and Psychology in the Schools. She co-authored the book, Tools for Dossier Success: A Guide for Tenure and Promotion.
BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Joy J. Burnham serves as the Senior Associate Dean and Professor of Counselor Education. As Senior Associate Dean, she works closely with academic affairs, faculty affairs, and graduate studies in the College of Education. She also partners with local schools. She interprets policies and procedures, implements the tenure and promotion process, and provides oversight to assessment and accreditation processes in the college. Dr. Burnham is a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama.
