Dr. Kristine Jolivette named 2025 Outstanding Graduate Mentor

Paul W. Bryant and Mary Harmon Bryant Endowed Professor Dr. Kristine Jolivette has been selected to receive the 2024-25 University of Alabama Outstanding Graduate Mentorship Award. This honor is a testament to Dr. Jolivette’s unwavering dedication to her students and the transformative mentorship she has provided through the years.

She not only displays excellence in her teaching and instruction but encourages a strong sense of belonging in her students through her collaborative writing sessions and retreats as well. These inclusive environments provide students with a supportive community and the space to be productive as they write and eventually disseminate their research. Dr. Jolivette continues to play a part in her students’ lives even after they graduate, guiding and helping them as they further their academic and professional paths. This commitment to mentorship is also evidenced in Dr. Jolivette’s leadership of Project INSPIRE, a program preparing doctoral students to address the needs of youth in restrictive education settings.

Dr. Jolivette’s students have gone on to achieve remarkable success, securing tenure-track positions, earning national awards, and making significant contributions to the field of special education. Her impact can be felt in her ability to inspire confidence and her tireless efforts to empower the next generation of scholars and educators.
