BIOGRAPHY
Myra Jean Jackson serves as the online Science Facilitator for the state. She has been working with AMSTI since 2006. Myra started AMSTI as a K-8 Science Specialist and a 5-8 Math Specialist, but most of those 18 years have been spent as a 6-8 Science Specialist with one year as a K-5 Math Specialist.
Prior to joining AMSTI and The University of Alabama, Myra taught one year in Memphis, Tennessee, as a third-grade teacher and 10 years in Selma, Alabama. Those 10 years included three years at Selma High School as a 9-12 Math teacher and seven years at the School of Discovery as a sixth grade Math and Science Teacher. She is a member of the Alabama Science Teacher Association and the National Science Teacher Association.
Myra received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Political Science as well as in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from The University of Alabama. She also received her master’s degrees in School Counseling and Early Childhood/Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama (Livingston University). Myra received her Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Capella University.
