Overview
The mission of the B.S.Ed. in Kinesiology with coursework focusing on physical education is to prepare highly skilled physical educators and leads to an Alabama Class B teaching certificate. Elementary, secondary, and advanced methods courses cover teaching styles and developmentally appropriate curriculum models. An adapted physical education course prepares students to implement physical education programs appropriate for children and youth with disabilities. Additional courses include field experiences where students are given opportunities to practice teaching under faculty supervision.
In the last ten years, our graduates have been very competitive in the job market. Many choose to teach in the southeastern United States, and others venture further afield. Additionally, a number of students go on to graduate school and study for advanced practitioner degrees or degrees which enable them to study and teach in university settings.
