
Welcome to the Multiple Abilities Program
The Multiple Abilities Program (MAP) is designed to prepare you to teach a wide range of abilities in students, including those with mild learning or behavior disabilities as well as those considered average and above average. When you graduate, you may be hired either as a regular elementary teacher or as a special education teacher of students with mild disabilities.
MAP Facts
--About 50% of the entire 5-semester program takes place in schools
--MAP places heavy emphasis on authentic, hands-on learning
--MAP students will not take any of the traditional education courses
--Parents of children with disabilities teach in the MAP program
--Elementary and special education teachers teach in the MAP program
--Use of technology is infused throughout the MAP program
--All MAP students will be part of a single cohort of 25 students, comprised
of collaborative teams
