PROGRAM OVERVIEW

• High quality master’s training delivered by award winning Special Education faculty
• Recruitment of practicing elementary teachers in school districts across 13 West Alabama counties to become advocates, change agents, and highly qualified special educators
• Techniques, methods, and strategies of differentiated instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse abilities
• Collaborative teaching to improve educational results for students with high incidence disabilities (such as learning and behavior disorders) in elementary settings
• Assessing P-12 student academic and non-academic change over time in grant participants’ classrooms
• Empirically supported, best practice procedures in the areas of student assessment, instructional programming, and progress evaluation
• Extensive closely supervised field experiences in grant participants’ schools and classrooms
• Immediate instructive feedback using state of the art enhanced Bug In the Ear (BIE) technology and videoconferencing
• Authentic mentoring emphasizing academic and professional support along with stress management and strategic problems solving
