
Department of Curriculum and Instruction (Elementary Literacy Education K-6)
Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Elementary Literacy Education K-6 (Tenure Track) (2 positions)
Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in Reading Education, Language Arts Education,
or related field
• Emphasis in Reading Education and/or Language Arts Education
• Teaching experience at the K-6 level
• Evidence of scholarly potential for assistant professor level
• A minimum of five years at the rank of assistant professor with
a publication record commensurate with the rank of associate professor
to be considered for that rank
• Ability to teach courses in foundations of reading, methods
of reading and language arts K-6
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction including web-assisted
and other alternative delivery models
• Ability to teach with a multicultural perspective
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to integrate inclusion concepts into instruction
• Experience with ESL populations
Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy education
and/or language arts education
• Maintain an active research/publication record and pursue external
funding agenda
• Direct student research, theses, and dissertations
• Advise students
• Supervise practicum and internship experiences
• Collaborate in further development of innovative undergraduate
and graduate programs
• Collaborate with Professional Development Schools
• Provide service within the University, to state and local education
agencies, and to relevant professional organizations
