
Department of Curriculum and Instruction (Program in Social Studies K-6)
Position: Assistant Professor of K-6 Social Studies Education (Tenure Track)
Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in teacher education or curriculum and instruction
with an emphasis in elementary social studies education
• At least 2 years of teaching experience at grades K-6
• Ability to pursue a defined research agenda in elementary social
studies education
• Ability to pursue external funding
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty from other colleges
within the university
• Ability to teach with a multicultural perspective
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with professional development schools preferred
• Experience in higher education teaching and/or supervision preferred
Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary social
studies education and teacher education
• Maintain an active research/publication record in elementary
social studies education and teacher education
• Direct student research, theses, and dissertations
• Coordinate and supervise practica and internship experiences
• Collaborate in ongoing development of innovative undergraduate
and graduate programs
• Participate in school/university partnerships and related professional
organizations
• Pursue external funding
