Department of Curriculum and Instruction

Position: Associate/Full Professor and Department Head of Curriculum and Instruction [9-Month Appointment, Summer Supplement]

Qualifications:

--Earned doctorate in an area of teacher education with emphasis in elementary and/or secondary education
--At least three years of teaching experience at the K-12 level, preferred
--A record of scholarly achievement sufficient to justify appointment to the rank of tenured associate or full professor in one of the programs within elementary or secondary education
--Support school/university collaboration
--Experience and interest working with professional development schools
--Previous administrative/leadership experience at the program or department level
--An established external funding agenda

Responsibilities:

--Provide leadership and administration for elementary and secondary programs, including academic leadership, program and department development, financial management, supervision of personnel, committee service and the professional responsibilities of teaching, research, and service
--Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary and/or secondary education
--Maintain an active research/publication agenda
--Direct student research, theses and dissertations
--Coordinate practicum and internship experiences
--Collaborate in ongoing development of innovative programs
--Participate in school/university collaborative efforts with state and local educational agencies, and related professional organizations
--Pursue an external funding agenda
--Incorporate appropriate technology into coursework
--Work effectively with Arts and Sciences faculty
--Supervise staff and graduate assistants
--Commit to the recruitment and retention of faculty and students
