Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for classes?
All registration is done on-line. Call 205-348-HELP to set up a mybama account. They will give you a username and password. You must have that before you can register. Because the Instructional Leadership courses have a restricted access you will need a permit (call Sue Williams at 205-348-1190). After you have talked to Mrs. Williams, go to www.mybama.ua.edu. Type in your user name and password. Click on “Academics” then “Student Services” then “Registration” then “Add or Drop Classes.” Select “fall term.” To add classes, you must have the CRN # of each class. AEL 667 has CRN # 47186; AIL 600 has CRN# 48004. Each time you add a class, click “add to worksheet.”

Where will classes be held?
Most of the classes will be held in Bibb Graves Hall (College of Education) and Russell Hall (Capstone College of Nursing). You will be notified before class of the exact room number. For a map of the campus, click here.

Where can I stay if I require overnight accommodations?
Tuscaloosa offers a number of clean, safe hotels that are just minutes from campus. Your welcome packet includes most of the hotels and phone numbers. The three nearest to campus are:

Four Points by Sheraton, 320 Paul W. Bryant Drive 205-752-3200
Holiday Inn Express, 1120 Veteran’s Memorial Parkway, 205-464-4000

When is orientation and what will I learn there?
For Fall 2008: TBA

Where do I park for orientation and for future classes?
We have obtained parking passes for orientation since it will be held during the day, and parking is extremely difficult during the day on campus. We will mail those passes to you using the address you listed on your application form. If this is not your preferred address, please e-mail Laura Ballard (lballard@bamaed.ua.edu). More information about parking and the UA Trolley system will be given to you at orientation.

Will I need textbooks?
Most classes have required texts and those texts are available for purchase at the University SUPE store or from most on-line booksellers (e.g., Barnes & Noble, Amazon). You can visit the program website for additional course information. A list of textbooks required for the fall will be posted on the website by July 31, 2007.
