Welcome Future Nurse Educator!

The Instructional Leadership degree for Nurse Educators is designed to prepare practicing nurses for careers in higher education. The course of study helps develop the teaching and research skills necessary for effective faculty in university and college nursing programs.

Students have the option of enrolling concurrently for the Master of Science in Nursing and the Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership, or, if they have already earned an M.S.N., entering directly into the Ed.D.

Because the majority of students are full-time nurses, coursework utilizes online instruction and weekend classes.

A nurse with a BSN degree can complete coursework for both the MSN and the Ed.D. in three to four years.

Through this collaborative effort, the Capstone College of Nursing and the College of Education seek to strengthen the future training of nurses and contribute to the quality of health care received by residents of Alabama and the Southeast region.
