Welcome to the Program in Instructional Leadership

The Instructional Leadership Programs are dedicated to inquiry in the advancement of knowledge, the improvement of professional practice, and service to the education profession. We develop future generations of instructional leaders, scholars, researchers, policy makers, and institutional leaders. Our work is guided by the principles of reflective practice, professional growth and development, individual responsibility, social justice, an ethic of caring, and commitment to the communities we serve. The program in instructional leadership strives to develop leaders of learning communities and distributive or shared leadership teams including teacher leaders committed to institutional and societal transformation.

The doctoral programs in Instructional Leadership include the doctor of education and the doctor of philosophy degrees. The Ph.D. has optional 12-hour concentrations in either Social and Cultural Studies or Instructional Technology. The course of study is flexible and can be coupled with specializations in a variety of other educationally-related subject areas. We also offer an Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership for nurse educators.
