Welcome Message from the Director

Thank you for your interest in the University of Alabama’s Executive Ed.D. in Higher Education. Our program provides students an innovative opportunity to become more knowledgeable about the higher education enterprise and prepare for positions of increased responsibility. The goal of the Executive Ed.D. is to train administrators to serve as leading scholar-practitioners who in their leadership roles can solve practical problems through applied research and discovery.

The Executive Ed.D. is ideally suited to meet the demands of experienced administrators working in institutions of higher education. Coursework is intensive and rigorous, designed to be completed in seven semesters. A vital component to the success of our program is the commitment of the faculty to ensuring student success at each stage of the journey. You will not find a more energetic and encouraging faculty anywhere in the country. Dissertation research begins early during the course of study and continues during each subsequent semester. In this way, by the end of the program, each student has completed coursework as well as a dissertation!
