Master of Arts

You must first be accepted into The University of Alabama, and then into a degree program in the College. For graduate admissions, visit the Graduate School home page.

A minimum of 30 hours of course credit must be earned, as follows: curriculum and teaching, 6 hours; foundations of professional studies, 3 hours; evaluation of teaching and learning, 3 hours; teaching field, 12 hours; electives (which may be specified), 6 hours. If the special education requirement has not been fulfilled, the student may be required to complete an additional 3-hour survey course in special education. Students may not count more than 6 hours in certain seminar/workshop/problems courses toward the completion of the degree. A maximum of 6 hours of approved transfer credit (maximum of 9 from UAH or UAB) may be applied to the degree. Students should see their advisers regarding which courses are appropriate for transfer credit.
